Azariah Doty was born Feb. 18 1745 in Piscataway, Middlesex Co., New Jersey.
He died June 7, 1851.
On his tombstone states "Scout, Gen. Marion's Comd Santee Swamp, Revolutionary War.
He is listed on the 1783 Tax Rolls for Greene Co. Tn.
He married Sarah Tucker in 1772 in Virginia.
Sarah Tucker was born about 1755 and died March 6, 1839 in Greene Co. Tn.
They are buried at Doty's Chapel Cemetery.
Azariah and Sarah had 9 children: Susanna Doty, Nancy Ann Doty, Isaac Doty,Enoch Doty, twins Mary and Sarah Doty, Hannah Doty, Ephriam Doty and Jesse Doty
Sarah "Sally" Doty, one of the twins, is my GGGgrandmother.
She was born Oct. 25, 1785 in Sharpley, Tennessee.
She married John McCollum on May 24, 1807 in Greene Co. Tn.
John McCollum was born about 1784 and died Sept. 6, 1841.
John and Sarah "Sally" McCollum had 5 children:
Mahalia, my GGGrandmother, born Dec 22, 1809 Died Aug 29, 1835.
She is buried in Hawkins Co, Rogersville, Tn.; Marvea McCollum, Sarah McCollum, Margaret McCollum and Mary McCollum.
